Swiss Emmentaler

...also known as Emmental, Emmenthaler or Emmenthal - however you spell it this cheese always has the same great flavor that makes a time-tested favorite. Somewhere between mild and strong, Emmentaler is a cheese that adults and kids enjoy equally. It is one of my favorites on ham sandwiches and an important part of cheese fondue.

You'll find cheese called Emmentaler that is made in France and the United States, but I find that the Swiss version is the best. The Swiss take their cheese seriously and control the recipes and process of making it closely. Emmentaler is only made around the region (or canton) of Bern.
